If you have been jilted in love or intend recuperating then Cheria beach area is the ideal place to be in. The last time I went to Cherai (a year or so back) it was not really the rush season but neither was it the lean season. The stay at the Cherai Beach Resort made me feel that I had slipped into retirement, or at least semi-retirement. Ensconced between the placid backwaters and a tempestuous beach front, this resort had nothing special to offer to its tourists. The cherai beach is very unlike the beach one finds in Goa, where one can actually walk into the deep sea, feeling like a character from a biblical episode. Possibly, post-tsunami the tides had actually begun to rise higher. Yes, the beaches are clean and the backwaters cool, but its the lack of adventure that makes the place boring. The backwater area does not allow motor boats to ply so one has only the oar boats at your disposal. Being taken for a boat ride can be an excruciating experience. Its slow like the tortoise we once saw making its way on the sand. Newly weds could end up fighting even before their marriage completes a week of blissful togetherness. The stillness of the air, the back of beyond and the sheer magic of scenic beauty is all wasted if you do not have activities to keep a city fella occupied. Yes, hes come from the hurly burly of city mess, but if you are to give him 24 straight hours of quiet time, hes bound to get paranoid. Moreover, resorts in cherai need to fit net windows and doors too. Or else, come night and you could find your loved one screaming her head off seeing the hundreds of nocturnal insects crawling or flying their way into your well lit rooms. SO for those staying there make sure you take up a room that has net windows and doors. As for the cuisine available at the resort, its marvelous and mouthwatering. Oil massages are also available. Theres a great treat waiting for you out there guys! But dont forget to take your IPods along!
