I had happen to purchase Optra Magnum LT 1.6 a couple of months before and the car was broke down in Mumbai due to failure of it’s alternator. When I purchased the car, it was shown to mechanic at their showroom in Thane and the technician informed me that the parts are all good and car is fine to run on road however, after a month the battery got discharged automatically, I called an electrician to check the cables and as per him the battery is dead and needs to be replaced so I ordered a new battery and installed. Same happened with new battery as well. The new battery was also discharged in 2 days so I took that to garage and asked to check everything.
The mechanic at garage told me that the alternator does not send current to battery hence battery does not get charged. So I asked him to repair or replace alternator but since the Chevrolet spare parts are only available at their own store and does not have or very less OEM, I called store for alternator but was shocked to hear the price. They asked me to purchase it for 27K which could buy me another maruti 800.
I had tried to search the same alternator in nearbuy stores but it wasn’t available unfortunately.
So, I asked the mechanic to repair that alternator and see if it works.
He charged me 6K and repaired it and that’s when the issue resolved. So I am very unhappy with the cost of spare parts of this brand and listed my car to sell since it is not cost friendly.
Leg Room: Yes it does have good legroom that is why I purchased it.
Dealer Satisfaction: Not at all since I had to replace the alternator and the price they told me was way too high.
Mileage: Mileage of this car is not that great, I use it on CNG and can go upto 19/20KM per KG.
Comfort: Yes, it is a comfortable car and you will not get tired even when there it s long run like 200/300KM in a single stretch.
Reliability: No, Their spare parts and mechanics are not available road side so if there is any kind of breakdown, it will eat your patience and time to get it repaired. You cant spend so much on spare parts.
Appeal: Off course, this car is very appealing and gives you a new status identity, all my friends where jealous of me when I purchased this vehicle.
