19 NOV. 2007. I bought an optra 1.6 Vehicle on September 2005. Vehicle is excellent by looks, comfort, and ofcourse by PRICE too. Now it clocked @ 30, 000. km. The motivating factor to opt for an optra was its price and Dealer Discounts and smooth drive and silent interiors.
On September 2007, I met with a very minor accident of hitting a buffallow on the Highway. My service bill was Rs.98, 000.00, of which Rs.54, 000.00 was given by insurer and the rest dented my pocket.
My experience shows certain things. 1. GM makes money not by selling the cars rather by selling the spares. Bumper is Rs.12, 000.00, Head Lamp.Rs.6, 000.00, Fronth Grill.3000.00 etc.
- One shouldnt by a car only by considering the price; but opt for the company with a track on good customer service back up with decent prices on spares. Otherwise, its like buying an elephant.
3.There should be some agency or cell to protect the customers from such irrational pricing of spares by manufacturers.
GM is spoiling a GOOD car by wrong spares pricing and poor customer support.
Suresh.
