Remember monsoons ? Hey I aint talking about the pleasent side of it - rain, pleasant wind etc .... I am talking about the water logged ROADs ! remember we guys live in India and we dont have the luxury of roads like Autobahn !
So wats monsoon, bad roads and water has to do with OPTRA ? Ill tell ya my story - one such rainy day I was driving home (believe me I was not drunk nor was I was driving my Optra like a Ferrari !) the usual water logged from which I have taken my Corolla, City and Accent many times ..... reached home parked my car the engine was struggling to stay alive.
Morning ! checked the engine Oil and wat do I see ..... its turned WHITE !!!Opened the air filter and its all WET ! obviously the water must have gone into the engine .... but roads were usually bad and my dad too brought his corolla home on it !
I was lucky to check th eengine oil that morning otherwise it could surely have resulted in engine getting damaged. The same I sent my car to the work shop , these guys came and towed the car
So why am I telling this story ? Well I was lucky but others that day were not. away . In the work shop 5 other optras had come with the same problem with their engines DAMAGED !!
There is a techincal flaw in the design of air suction. Its too low as it sucks up quite easily. Normally in outer cars the suction for air that goes into air filter is in front but in Optra is next to the tyre going towards the road below !
I saved my car coz I was lucky ! But I still feel scared taking this car out on the road on a rainy day !
Over all Ill say dont buy this car :
1) Low pickup as compared to Skoda and corolla
2) Its Korean ! I need not say more
3) Techincal flaw as mentioned above
4) Its almost 6 month since I have the car and I can see some noices from somewhere !
5) Poo avarage - 9 to 10 Km/L
