Chevrolet or should we say GM has finally played , if not all , still most of its cards right this time and has come out a winner. its latest offering THE OPTRA has finally hit the right cord with the indian buyers. Amongst all the negative hype surrounding the car , I finally said what the heck and went ahead and bought the top model. I upgraded from the lancer after driving it to 95000kms and after 4.6 yrs. I was looking for something that is luxurious , spacious, somewhat mileage friendly and should have the WOW factor. The wow factor is what u get on the road from other motorists when they see u in ur car.and let me tell you the optra has puhhlenty of that. I drove the car for around 1500kms in the first week itself and got an avg of 9.5 with the a\c on in local routes . On highways I got a surprisingly good avg of 14kms\ltr(surprise and double surprize). The music system is the best of any luxury cars that I have seen . the speakers r of remarkably good quality too. the drive at first is not what is to be expected of an 1800cc engine , but once u get the hang of it , the car is really good to drive .I was a little hesitant driving at high speed due to the rumours that the brakes are not good , but braking from 140kms\hr to a full stop did not weave the car a little bit.The seats are more than luxurious and there is ample space at the back to fit three six footed adults. now wat more do u expect from a car. but wait there is also the two year service holiday and the sun roof.and best of all THE PRICE . can u beleive it that all this is for below 10 lacs. I think that the entire models in this class better think of providing more facilities or consider the price (especially toyota corolla). if u r thinking of a new car in this class then I think that the optra fills every requirement of a luxury and that makes it the car of all cars.
