A Pleasant surprize

I bought a Cevy-Aveo U-Va-LS model(ivory gold).  Actually bought it because I didn’t have much choice left. I wanted to buy the Getz but the dealer was most un co-oprative. Didn’t really like the Swift, therefore I settled for the U-Va. The final price(4.79 lakhs on road) was attractive too. Have been using it for exactly a month now. Have clocked 1000km on the ODO till date. Have listed pro’s & con’s as I see it:

Pro’s

1) Solid build quality. Car feels well built and built to last.

2) Very spacious. The room inside(both front and rear) is comparable to even cars like to Indigo, Fiesta etc. Several cars that look big on the outside are miserably cramped on the inside(Ford Ikon-Flare, Swift) for instance. Only the GETZ comes anywhere near the U-Va in terms of space inside.

3) Drivability in the City is superb. Gear ratios are very good.

4) Air Con is very good.

5) Am getting a mileage of 14km/ltr. Must however confess that I switch off  the A/C at times after the cabin has really cooled.

6) The Ivory Gold color looks classy. Worth the extra 4K that one has to pay for it.

7) The Sales experience has been very good so far( I bought the car in Mangalore). Hope the service is as good too.

Con’s

1) The Seats are a little low. It takes a little time to get used to the seating position. Having driven a Santro Zing for the last three years, I found the seating position a little too low.

2) Foot rest on the left side of the clutch has not been provided. This is a standard fitting in many cars especially those manufactured by Hyundai. It helps you settle yourself comfortably.

3) The Rear wind shield is a little small. A larger glass would have improved visibility.

4) Rear wiper and De-fogger, Fog lamps and split seats should have been standard in the LS model. The LT model is priced almost 50K more than LS with only these features and alloy wheels added. The price is not justified.

5) Hope the model doesn’t become obsolete in a couple of years( remember the Opel Astra & the Opel Corsa/Sail?)

6) The Wiper and the Headlamp control levers are on the wrong side. It takes some time getting used to this. They were originally meant for left hand drive vehicles. The Indian Car market is too big for car manufacturers to ignore. High time they made Country specific designs.
