This will be a short review as there is not much to write about a animated movie which has a short running time of about 75-80 mins.
Ok, to start with , this is the story - After Chicken Little ( chicken) causes widespread panic--when he mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky--the young chicken is determined to restore his reputation. But just as things are starting to go his way, a real piece of the sky lands on his head. Chicken Little and his band of misfit friends, Abby Mallard (aka Ugly Duckling), Runt of the Litter ( pig) and Fish Out of Water ( fish) , attempt to save the world without sending the town into a whole new panic .
The story seemed interesting in the first half , but then falters later. A chicken trying to improve its image and believing in itself. But the climax is really dull and nothing new. I mean the climax is very predictable.
The animation is great. It just keeps getting better with every movie ( finding nemo, shark tale, incredibles etc. ) . Here , a lot of detail has been given to texture , I mean texture of the wall, shirt, the hair, etc. But the overall look ( background) of the whole movie is childish , like watching some cartoon for toddlers.After watching movies like Finding Nemo and Incredibles , and judging by the fact that Animated movies are not just for kids these days , the movie isnt appealing to the eye.
Now, if the movie is basically meant for Kiddos, then why are there so many references to stuff that kids wont understand. Like - there is a scene imitated from the latest flick King Kong , which I really liked and laughed , but the whole audience packed with kids couldnt get the joke. So , basically, the film makers are confused who is the target audience. Because I feel that , most adults would want more from the movie after coming out of the theatre , and most kids wont understand the small jokes and the story of the movie.
On the brighter side, the 4 main characters are really hilarious. Chicken Little’s voice has been given by Zach Braff ( from Scrubs ) , Abby( duckling) by Joan Cusack ( School of Rock) , Runt of the litter ( pig) is done by Steve Zahn ( Sahara) , and Fish out of water. My fav. character from this movie will be Runt of the Litter.
Also, the OST was good with songs from Barenaked Ladies and REM.
Overall, I was expecting a much better standard from the stable of Walt Disney. The film is good, no doubt , with many hilarious moments and excitement, but maybe coz I am comparing it with Finding Nemo and Incredibles, I am not satisfied .
