Thippanahalli home stay

The long week end around christmas provided the much needed break from routine.

Our immediate and near family of 10 members decided to go on a south canara tour; we covered initially places like kuke, dharmasthala, horanadu, kalasa, kudremukh and sringeri, basically visiting the various temples. Once we were done with the temple visits, we visited Chikmagalur. WE had booked in advance at Thippanahalli Homestay that is part of a coffee planatation. The main bungalow is about 75 years old whereas the estate by itself is more than 200 years old, owned by the current family.

The rooms are very expansive, scenic and comfortable with all modern amenities. The host family is very hospitable and friendly where they take pains to be present personally, to ensure that their guests are taken care. The food is good with traditional malnad cuisine.

We had also trekked from the plantation the entire distance to the mulyangiri peak which was a fantastic experience. In addition, we visited places like budangiri etc. In all, more than visiting a particular spot, the drive and the scenery around is something to cherish.

Although this particular homestay is expensive, it is worth the experience.
