Friends and viewers, I would like to share my experience of Chilika. Although I have been there several times, once with my family & once during my Engineering college days.
My nightout with friends is a memorable one. Chilika is a beautiful place and mostly a water lagoon at Bay of Bengal. Mostly you can find lots of species of fish, crab & many sea foods. Also there you can find wide variety of endangered species of both birds and animals and its like a home to them. It is around 85 kms from Bhubaneswar and was a sweet ride for us.
The road route was very comforting.
There is lots of sightseeing can be done. As the time was short so I enjoyed Kalijai Temple, the blue lagoons of Chilika, Dolphin point at Satapada. Heard lots about small islands but needed time to visit. CHILIKA DHABA is a well known local dhaba there and is known for freshly cooked Prawns. For taste lovers it will be a good choice for sattisfying yoir apetite.
Due to its location at Bay of Bengal, it has a typical coastal climate. The ecotourism of Chilika provides a good memory of a lifetime. There is good accomodation for both domestic and foreign tourists. Panthanivas, Swosti Resort provides a good stay with very beautiful views all around. The location is safe and mainly the localites of Chilika are simple people from fishery background.
Two day hault may not be sufficient to explore Chilika as a whole but a nice experience for a lifetime. The climate definitely helps people from all agegroup to have a nice weekend.
