Chinese at its best...

This review is dedicated to Tanmay because of whom this review has been possible. Actually was reading Tanmay?s review on Talk of the Town and it made me ravenous. Since it was not possible for me to find the tantalizing items he had mentioned in his review here, I decided to go to the place where I can find some of my other favorite items. Well, I am talking about China Pearl , one of the best Chinese restaurants in Koramangala.

China Pearl is quite easy to find. It is located next to Vijaya Bank in 6th Block Koramangala. People with cars might have slight problems with parking especially on weekends since the restaurant hasn?t got its own parking lot. This place is usually crowded with office-goers on weekdays and families on weekends. You might have to wait a while if you have not made reservations earlier.

Without much ado let me tell you about the food available here. China Pearl offers a wide variety of authentic Chinese delicacies starting from appetizers to the main course.

The appetizers section gives an ample choice of both veg and non-veg items. You have exotic sounding dishes like Kim Li Prawns (prawns in plum sauce), Saam Kap Kay (tender chicken in black bean, chilly and garlic sauce) and Shaolin Sticks (crisp fried veg sticks tossed in a mouth watering sauce). They also have regular items like spring rolls, fried chicken and momos for their non-adventurous guests.

Jade Chicken Soup, Spicy Crab Meat Soup, Lung Fung Soup, Manchow Soup, Veg and Asparagus Soup are some of the tempting names you will find in the soup section of China Pearl. A full bowl of one of the thick soups is a meal by itself. So I suggest, if you go for soup, share it with your companion so that you have some craving left for the main course.

For the main course, you have choices from a variety of rice and noodles. Malaysian Noodles, Szechuan Chowmien, Dang Ping Noodles, Dragon Chopsuey, Five Treasure Chowmien are some of the names you will find on the list. The rice lovers can try out delectable rice dishes like Fortune Rice, Jade Rice, Chicken Corn Rice and Chicken Shanghai Rice.

To go with these, you have an assortment of choices like Chilly Lamb, Hoi Sin Lamb, Peking Fish, Hunan Chicken, Drunken Chicken and many more. The vegetarians will also not be disappointed because of dishes like Veg balls, Chilly Paneer and Stir Fried Chinese Greens.

After all this, if you still have some place left in your stomach, you could try some of their desserts like honey tossed datsun with ice cream, lichee with ice cream or pineapple pan cake with ice cream.

The ambience is cozy with soft music in the background. Large Ming vases adorn the interiors along with beautiful Chinese paintings and calligraphy. The service is prompt and the prices are affordable. A satisfying meal for two shouldn?t cost more than Rs. 300.
