My family and I went to Mainland China, Cenatoph Road for dinner. Although I have been to the one in Sterling road before, this was my first time here. The decor and the cozy environment instantly impressed me and our party of 10. We started with soups and starters. Crispy corn, Jang’s Chill Chicken, Sweet and Crispy Chicken were my favorite. For our main course we had Vegetables with Maluku Sauce Clay pot, Mixed Vegetable Chinese Parsley Gravy, Fried rice and Crispy Noodle. We were told one plate will be sufficient for 3 people, but it wasn’t. Except clay pot everything else was normal. On the dessert side Sizzling brownie with hot chocolate sauce was ranked the best.
Almond waffle with cream was like crispy chips dipped in fresh cream, chocolate rolls was too sweet and as was date pancake. Also the date pancake was hard to peel. On the whole it was a disappointing meal. The wow factor of Mainland China was missing. On top of all this when the bill arrived there was a 10% service change on top of 2% VAT.
That’s ridiculous !!! Its a total rip off and this charge is applied even for a group of 2. Looks like it was mentioned in a small corner of the menu. Its not a room service where you are charged a service charge. Its a restaurant and all these charges should be included in the menu.
