Winter, last year, my boss asked me to visit Chokhi Dhani along with my family. He said everybody must see chokhi dhani once in their life time. More important for them whose children have grown in metros and think that rural india means black and white.
My children went along for Jaipur as the attraction but were not very happy for my decision to have chosen chokhi dhani and not any 5 star hotel. Upon reaching the gates of chokhi dhani I found that I am somehow fused to the culture and values of india.
The moment we entered I found my children were entralled and surprised by seeing such a colourful village. All walls even the least visible one was painted with either some kind of patchwork, glass work, mural or with mandana. Even the doors were made of antique blocks of etched wood. The reception was a grand surprise. So lively and colourful and still completely rural.
Our room was up to the mark ethnic but also furnished with best of the facilities of a five star hotel ( I found they were the first 5 star resort of the kind in this country)
In evening as we moved out we found that each and every corner is lit with laterns and dancers and singers were literally everywhere in the 15 some acres of land.
The village so called for the amusements and activities was crowded with more than 1500 people and many more poring in but still there was so much space and fun. the panghat, wooden rides, carousal, the hat bazaar like delhi haat( more well made) and the manuhar for food service.
My family had a great time. I stand to thank the owners for the same. I decided to write this after my cousins who stay abroad also went there and had a great experience.
