This is the story of so called’Best and biggest’ dealer of Maruti Car’s in Delhi. I purchased my CAR from them in the month of Dec. 03., if you have read my review on ICICI Bank you must be aware that it took me long to get two cheque books to deposit PDC’s, as a result I was asked to deposit Rs. 20000( this is excluding Rs. 10000 I had given at the time of booking the car) and an undertaking that if I cancel the booking now Rs. 25000 shall be deducted. For a moment I thought why the hell am I buying my car from these arrogant people, still, I went ahead with the deal and decided to give them the required money/undertaking.
Finally, I got my CAR delivered on 1st Jan, 04. The salesman advocated the’Extended Warranty’ and I thought let’s go for it and gave him Rs. 3000 at the time of delivery. I was promised that I shall get me warranty papers in next 3 days. This was the entire process of mine purchasing this car( the first of my own money for which I have really worked hard and waited passionately).
Now comes what I wanted to share with you.
- I am not from Delhi and came here 3 years back, working with a Software MNC, a real big one. I was told by the dealer that since you don’t have a voter card / passport or a LIC policy mentioning address of Delhi it is difficult to get the CAR registered in Delhi in your name. They said give us whatever documents you have( I gave Employer Certificate/Lease deed of the flat I am residing at/ Letter from a senior govt. officer / Documents of LPG connection at the same flat / Post Office and Bank Account statements on same address / Voter Card’s copy which has the address of my native town) and we will somehow MANAGE to get your car registered for which I have to give Rs. 2000 etc. as they shall have to bribe the authorities.
You guessed it right, I did that. They also said, since we are bribing you shall be able to choose from some very decent looking numbers. Well, the 3 numbers I was given to choose from . not even one digit in common. I haven’t seen such ugly combination of numbers on any car since a long . HA HA HA. Anyways, I have one of those on my car.
The very next month a friend of mine, working in my company, having less documents than me, bought a ZEN from RANA Motors, New Delhi, all done in 3 days, did not pay a single penny extra for registration got his CAR with number plate reading 5506.( What a fool I was)
I was given a Gate Pass which is valid for a month and was asked that my copy of Registration will be sent to me a soon as it is done, maximum seven days. I kept waiting till 30th Jan and finally went to the dealer to collect the RC. I was asked to get the bill from their billing department, they tried their level best but could not find my file. I got hold of the guy I was dealing with and he managed to get me the RC. He also said these guys harass the customers who go to them directly( was I in a Sarkari Office or was at a Maruti Dealer?). I reminded him of my extended warranty for which I had given him Rs. 3000, he again promised that he shall send it to me along with my invoice. It’s 3rd March today, I haven’t got my Invoice neither did I get my Extended Warranty document.
I am sure I am not the unluckiest one, some of you must have also gone thru the same. All the best if you are buying your next car from them.
