This is true personal experience, I did not mean to say that the doctor will treat every one similar. just in my case so happened, and I want to help others who will go through similar experiences.
Since my wife got pregnant I was showing in Bangalore Baptist hospital. but due to traditions my wife will go to her mothers place in Chandra layout after 7th month. Some of their relatives suggested Dr. Indumathi gynecologist in Chandra layout, she is senior specialist in vani villas hospital. she has a clinic at her home. she also consultant in vinayaka hospital.
since 7th month, I showed to Dr. Indumathi and she was very co-operative and patient and did not suggested un-necessary scans or tests. so we built up good trust about her treatment and planned to go for delivery to vinayaka hospital and selected her to do delivery.
during 38th week my wife water broke at 6:30 am, she called up dr. indumathi, she told to take bath and come at 9:30 to her clinic in home. she and her mother went as advised. she did check and sent her to vinayaka hospital for NST to check babies heart rate.
Since I stay away, I took a hour or two to reach hospital till 11. by the time the nst graph has been ready, doctor advised my wife’s mother that babies heart rate is dipping to 80 a few times, so we should do Caesarean section and she need to sign the consent forms. she refused and said she will wait for me.
after reaching I went to see doctor, she told me the same showing on the graph, by this time I had read from the internet a little bit. so I told her, that small dips should be ok, his heart rate for most of time is 150 and a few seconds dip to 80 should not be so much an issue. And I requested her to give medicine to induce my wife. For that she got angry and said I will not do the treatment as you advice, with all my experience, I am telling you should go for C-section operation. For that I said, after water broken, we can wait till 12 to 24 hours for either contractions to start and also u can give medicines for start contractions.
for which she refused, and tried to convince me why I am against C-section etc. with this test results, I will not induce your wife, if you want u can go show to other place, where u used to show before etc.
I then decided I should not give up and take my wife to Baptist hospital and try get second opinion. for which my wife and mother in law agreed. so I got her discharged and went directly to Bangalore Baptist hospital, I reached around 1:30 went to emergency room. Dr. Satyavani was the gynecologist who we used to consult all the 7 months. She came, saw all the test results and they shifted her to labour ward and given induction medicines at 3:30 pm. They never said anything about operation, and by 7:30 pm she progressed and got contractions. and Thanks to Allah, my wife gave birth to healthy boy by mid night. Normal delivery.
Its been two weeks, and all I can think about is how the doctors try to cheat us for little more money and spoiling such a great profession, we treat them like gods, but they mislead us and see only their convenience, What I feel is Dr. Indumathi did not want to induce my wife and wait whole day till my wife get contractions and take all the trouble, but just do C-section for 10 to 15 minutes and go away to her duty in vani villas hospital. its convenience over patients health.
I have no idea why she did like that in my case, but some say in vinayaka hospital that she do normal deliveries.
I advice all would be parents, please do not believe the doctors blindly but do your research and judge what they saying and if you feel doubtful then go to other hospital or take second opinion.
