Ive been using Linux since last 2 years. When I started off in 90s it was a lil difficult the transition from windows to Linux. The GUI in linux used to crash often.but last week ive downloaded RedHat Linux 7.2. It took just 40 mts to install and running.
Its just mind boggling. The installation procedure is straight-forward.This version uses the GRUB instead of LILO.
There are thousands of applications which we didnt imagine of. There is something for everyone. If u are a graphic designer, u have applications like GIMP, ImageMagick, theres also an interesting application called PhotoGallery, which can read video from an attached digital camera.
For developers, there are innumerable applications like Kdevelop, the standard Emacs, VI etc.
If u are intereted in games RedHat comes with more than 50 games.
This version contains may wizards, for intance take if u want to connect to a network or local printer it contains wizard to add printer.
Theres also a control panel just like what u see in windows.
Others u can explore by urself.
But I bet this is gonna take windows for a ride:)
