I had purchased a Cell phone in Jan 2009 from Universal. When I purchased, they told me about the mobile damage/theft insurance which is Unique with Univercel and no where else it is available. So, I paid and additional 300+ as the premium of the New phone.
Unfortunatelly, I lost the phone while travelling in the bus in June. I tried to trace it but could not find it. I filed a compliant with Police and latter went to Univercel for claiming the Insurance. They have a different story to tel now.
They said that I need to fill in a Form and attach all the docs like purchase recipt, police compliant copy, FIR etc... in ORIGINAL and send it to ALEgION Insurance Broking Ltd in Chennai. So, I had no choice than to send it to them throw a corrier. I got back the mail from the Insurance comp asking for more info on how the phone was lost and also a Non Traceble Certificate from the Police for the lost phone.
They had given some phone numbers to contant which rings for ever and no one answers. however, I do get a engage/busy message at some time for these numbers but they never pick up my calls.. I am batteling with the Police to get the Non Traceable Certificate till date as they can not issue the same until 90 days. Soo all you peole out there beware of 2 things... first of all.. take care of your mobile phones while travelling in Bus (BMTC) and secondly enquire throughly before u buy phone from Univercel.
