Samsung SCH S299 model does not appear anywhere on Samsung site and still it is being sold all over under Samsung brand name. It is less than 1 STAR phone. Below are the points that one should carefully look into before spending huge money on this extremely poor design model

Address book
names length - max 14 char
Only mobile phone can be stored in Card memory. All additional numbers and details are stored in phone memory which is too less.
Address book import is only via Outlook. First it has to be imported into Outlook and then imported from Outlook
While editing numbers cursor cannot be brought to begining by moving right but has to be taken left one char at a time.. Too painful.
Search can be made by only First name unlike in Nokia by either F Name or L name
Usability
keyboard is flat metal strip for each row and no separate keys so typing specific keys is painful
Switching typing mode from numbers to letters to symbols is sequential i.e. from letter to symbol then complete sequence of next 4 choices and then come back to letters
While entering text into Task List text box one has to start typing text unlike in address book where you have to select ok to start typing. Inconsistent
Picture default storage Memory Card cannot be defined.
Profile (normal, quite, Loud etc.) cannot be set. So keep phone on vibrate mode you have to press UP key to "Enter into SSR mode". This goes off when you go to silent mode i.e Silent and Vibration mode cannot co exist. Very odd!!
Default typing mode for message is letters and not English language.
Voice memo
cannot specify storage place. Default is only phone
Cannot start while talking
Messaging
Beyond 100 odd char message splits into 2 msgs.
While sending msg to large no. of recipients, it sends weird message like "pl call back"
Speakerphone
poor quality so invariably one has to use earphone or shift to handset
