Great sound at Rs. 1.1k !

Not so long ago, I was hunting for a decent set of speakers for my laptop and TV.Whenever such’electronic’ needs arise, I always know just where to start my search: Lamington Road.

This is one place where one almost always gets a great deal, more so if you have a good rapport with vendors there.

It didn’t take me long to spot this set of speakers:( see image in my photoalbum https://mouthshut.com/coolmangu/photogallery/51188809943871987)

What immediately caught my attention was the ominous looking big black box. I felt the underside and found out that it was a subwoofer.

It was then that I noticed the brand name: ALTEC LANSING!

It was just the previous week, or so, that one of my "tech-savvy" friends was going gaga over his new set of Altec Lansing speakers. According to him "If there is any sound system co. that can give BOSE a run for their money, it has to be Altec Lansing." Well, I hadn’t heard that name before so I didn’t pay much attention to him.

The sheer exorbitant rates of a BOSE system deters me from even considering it! So I didn’t want to get my hopes too high about this one either, lest it falls way outside my budget.

I decided to check out the specifications any way: 7-watt subwoofer with two 4-watt speakers, totalling 15-watts normal output, 30 watts at peak output.

It also had it’s own headphone jack. And there is also this cool option of jacking an i-pod to it!(that i-pod cradle comes as an accessory:)

I finally decided to(unwillingly) ask the price. Imagine my surprise when Patelbhai said "gyarah sau rupaiye". I didn’t even bother to bargain.

I just paid up and took it home to quickly find out if my friend was right.

Yes he was!
