Again, this is a good topic I find to write. In my 19th month of career consultancy job, I observed that many students take specialization according to their parent friends or relatives suggestions. It is fact that your near and dear will never give you wrong suggestions. But ever you think, how much they know about you, your interest, your unexpressed feelings, your dreams and plans. They give you suggestions on the basis of market and economic trends. What is in demand? If fashion technology than go for it.
Never kill your interest. Otherwise, a regret will follow you in lifetime. Interest is the biggest factor to lead you for a successful career, name and fame. If today, IT is in Boom and information technology students getting hefty salaries than B-school grads are next two steps. Upcoming Infrastructure boom and retail market ready to open great openings for students. It started.
Even you can find a very god career in sports. Irfan Pathan and Sania are the live examples.
Fashion Technology is in continue steady state position. Reason of steady state is no diversification and market development. Indian rural market , B and C grade cities not accepted Fashion Technology till the date.
Information Technology and software sector is shining. It is estimated by the NASSCOM that their will be scarcity of manpower in IT sector till 2010.
Now I have some tips for those who just passed 10+2 and graduation from various dicipline. Remember, if you were a mathematics student till 10+2, than all doors open for you.
Option ENGINEERING (B.Tech./BE)-- Those who are completed 10+2 from Physics+Chemistry+Mathematics with 50% or above marks have opportunity to sit for engineering entrance exams. Many states organising engineering entrance exams separately. IITs are the God of engineering in India. IIT has world class recognition. To join IIT, you has to clear JEE entrance exams.
In engineering, you can select Computer science, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Information Technology, Civil, Architecture, Production engneering which suit to your interest. Today, every field has great opportunity. You can also go for merchant navy after 10+2.
Option Medical- If you are from Biology background in 10+2, you can choose M.B.BS., B.D.S., Pharmacy as a career. Many other medical courses availablein the institutions. I am suggesting the best one. Sit for the CPMT, CBSE and other state level exams. It is the Girls preferable field.
Option B.Com./BBA - Now, Commerce students have tremendous opportunity to grow. MBA is in Demand. If you pursue BBA, you will get the exposure for MBA. Sriram College of Commerce, Delhi is the best college in India for B.Com. students
Option B.A.- Those who completed 10+2 from non. mathematics background can go for B.A. Their are lots of courses available for B.A. program. See the university list. JNU, Delhi is the best college for BA students. Most of BA students prepare for Civil services. It is easy to clear Civil services from BA subjcts rather than others.
AFTER GRADUATION---
Whatever your Dicipline, No matter, Go for MBA if you have more than 50% mark in graduation.
MBA- IIMs are the God of management schools. Except IIMs, top 30 B-school of India can give the headstart of your career.
ISB, Hyderabad is a specialised institute only admit more than 5 years experienced persons. Fee is too high (Nearly !0 lac).
CHOOSING SPECIALISATION-
FINANCE- If you has interest to handle finance, always you interested to see stock prices, Banking services which looks you lucrative than go for it. Girls favorable specialization.
Marketing- If you have zeal to perform and stamina to produce results on behalf of you than go for it. This specialization provide you hectic travel experience, Negotiations and Business development in future. You will get the true rewards of hardwork in marketing field. Tremendous growth chances available.
HR- Want to assess the people, their skills, interest in psychology than go for it. This is the second big choice of girls.
Operations- Want to solve the production line problem, Logistics problems and minimisation of time in every process without affecting quality. than go for it. Mechanical engineers preferable elective.
And their are many other specialization available in B-schools. You can choose according to your interest.
For ENGINEERS- You can sit in any MBA entrance exams. But in JMET, NITTIE and NICMAR, no other competitors except engineers. These institutes taking only engineers intake.
NICMAR, pune have specialised course for civil engineers which is unique. Also it has one course which is recently started on Project engineering and Management is unique in India. Nittie give you the perfect industrial exposure.
