Why are all washing machines bad?

Disclaimer: This infact is NOT a washing machine product review, but you can say a review on wm-product reviews. In case you are in a hurry to quickly decide on a brand of WM, plz steer clear of this post and head to other specific ones; sorry but thanks. But if you are NOT in a hurry and but want to select & decide upon a WM brand, come aboard, you are in right company.

Recently my grand old Citizen top loading washing machine (wm) kicked the bucket. I had to replace this with a new washing machine. Before I did the purchase, (as I usually do) I tried to seek the MS reviews to quickly arrive at a decision on the make & model to choose and to know the feedback on comparative performances.

What I found was all the posts on WM were merely WM-complaints. Especially on IFB on which I had an initial pre-MouthShut-browsing-crush, the hate-reviews were the majority and overwhelming. I actually changed my mind, ‘reset’ my choices and tried them feedback on other WMs, say Whirlpool, LG, Samsung etc.

Alas, here again I landed amidst much the same stuff. Appeared to me that all

the main brands have driven the customers up the wall some time or the other.

Lots and loads of complaint-reviews. No body seems to recommend the make or

model that they have actually purchased to others. If I one (as I would like to have) were to

buy a WM only based on good reviews from MS, take it from me, there is no

choice; I got an opinion that all washing machines suck; regardless of make or

model.

Well, after a little brooding over it occurred to me that

all might not be so gloomy after all. There ought to be many consumers out

there, who are damn pleased with what ever they purchased and are using their

stuff and they don’t bother to post a review on MS or any other such review

portals. Of course, given the normal going, why should they? They might give an

opinion when asked, perhaps. While wm manufacturing companies are still ticking

& going strong after all, it is only when someone ends up not getting what

they believed they would, its ruckus all over.

So what’s the remedy? I was musing myself; how to get the ‘feel-happy’

crowd to share their experience, especially when they have nothing to complain on their choices of products.

Hmmm…difficult task insn’t ?!

While there cannot be any complaining about this, we could

only request and motivate those Ladies & Gentlemen to share their ‘trick’

of choosing right. (who incidentally are a shade better than others, ‘cos they

didn’t goof (hopefully) in what ever consumer decisions they took; whether by

chance or by plan).

So… dear fellow citizen, those of you smiling wide &

bright (I hope) on having done something right and enjoying the after-thought

on that…  please share your experience

of how you went about choosing and arriving at those (purchase) decisions! How you choose between product makes & models?

What’s your methodology or process of assessing by the ‘word of mouth’

certificates? Plz let the world benefit from your good judgment. This is a subtler point by any yardstick, but an important one. Can we expect

MS-Admin team to do address this and do something?

To cut it short, guess what I did to decide on a WM? I went about doing a personal face-2-face survey. Over a cup of tea, over phone, over and above push-overs and hang-overs. Over all it gave a totally new perception. I regained the confidence that there are lots of washing machines that are indeed good. There are many brand loyalists who would once again buy the same make and even the model. More on that separately at the appropriate category. thanks for your reading.
