IFB Digital DO NOT BUY

I Purchased an IFB Digital Washing machine , 7 Kg on April 2008, and I have had problems with it eversince. It started getting stuck in between wash, When I called the service, they diagonised it as faulty PCB. The replacement of this PCB took nearly 3 weeks and that too after repeated followups to service center and showroom.

The regional In-Charge Mr. Vittal who came to replace it said that the PCB is very sensitive to voltage fluctuations and it requires exactly 230 volts. I asked him which Indian city gives a constant electric supply of 230 volts?! For which he had no answer. Now after a month of working, the same problem has cropped up again. I do not know how long will they take to solve this problem.

The other problem I faced was that it requires water supply of at least one atmosphere. ie 10 ltrs in one minute, which I feel is not available in many Indian households If the supply is less, it goes to pause mode!. After buying this expensive washing machine (it costs Rs. 30000) I am still hand washing my clothes. I feel that this washing machine is definitely not suitable to Indian conditions. Therefore  my advice to prospective buyers "Please do not buy it".

ADD: IFB responded to my call  after I threatened to approach consumer forum. They agreed that the PCB works only in ideal conditions (230 Volt AC current and 50 Hz frequency) which we rarely find in our country. They have replaced the PCB again and claim that the new PCB is designed for indian conditions (220-240 Volts & 45 Hz frequency) and they are now replacing all old PCB’s. For now, the machine works well without any trouble.
