I purchased a Whirlpool Top Loading Automatic Washing Machine in 2005 in Chennai
Firstly, the wash quality right from day one was very poor. Leakages from the water inlet nozzle and from the wash drum was a frequent feature. After the warranty period, we went in for a two year service contract. After this two year service contract expired sometime in September 2009, we repeatedly contacted them for a fresh two year service contract. No one bothered to turn up and collect the cheque. As a result, the machine was not under service contract.
We were managing with the minor leakages, but the water from the inlet hose started leaking substantially. Recently we contacted the service centre about 4-5 days back. They sent a service engineer who religiously collected Rs.340/- and stated that major repairs amounting to Rs.3500/- was necessitated as most of the parts had to be replaced. This is how Whirlpool cheats customers. We politely told him that we were not interested in repairing the Whirlpool Washing Machine and junked it.
We are planning to buy a new automatic washing machine.
For Gods sake do not buy a Whirlpool Washing Machine. In fact do not take one even if someone gifts it. It is just not worth the trouble.
