Blues with Blue Star...

I am writing this when I am done with the first round of investigations on buying the AC with price/performance ratio with a bit of Indian Heart.

My friend has already bought Carrier. I was keen on buying an Indian AC. So I started my market research in chennai - where I live. I found that O-Genera & Hitachi are the top range ACs and Blue Star and Carrier or on the mid range while LG and Onida being in the low range in branded Good/popular ACs.

I thought of buying the mid-range ACs. I enquired a lot on Blue Star only to find very less information. I visited Maruthi AC Sales & Service in Vellachery. The enthusiastic guy over there was ready to give enough information, but again my question was always revolving around the "Difference between Carrier and Blue Star AC" and his answer always revolving around "No Difference between them".

All that he said was, these two companies source thier product from the same company located in taiwan or somewhere. He challenged that the in-door unit of blue star is exactly the same as carrier and the outdoor unit is a bit bigger than carrier which ensures enough air circulation helping to cool faster. Also he said, the outdoor unit of carrier blows air on to coil to cool it, while that of blue star sucks air through coil to cool it!

I thought that, even to a non-technical person this explanation might work the reverse for Blue Star campaign. You see, for the suction to work the container should be air-tight. If there is a block somewhere then the more air will be flowing through the other part of the coil. While blowing air will ensure the air is blown through the coil evenly even if there are external air blockades in-between the coil.

I want to know the reall technical detail of which one works best in cooling down the coil and I am still on it. When I get to know I will post it.

One more thing I found was Carrier is having a heater too, which might remotely be helpful during markazhi(december) early hours.

Note: I have not come across a single technical comparison chart so far comparing ACs available in India so far! Anybody knows please post it.

Regards,

Shankar.
