Text Editors are not new to anyone, you use it for Taking Daily Notes or for Editing plain text.
Text editors are word processors that do not manages Formatting & other Desktop publishing features.
Why we need Text editors?
Text editor usually comes up with Operating System or as Freeware/Shareware Software.
Sometimes we do not need formatting of text & also dont wanna put load on system memory, so it is good choice of using Text editors.
They are good for recording Website URLs list, if you dont wanna bookmark using Internet explorer.
Another use of editor is to copy and paste the text(message/article/email) you want from any website. So Text Editor is very handy for computer users.
Available Text Editors
Well there are many Text editors depends on Computer Platform you are using.Unix operating system is having(VI) editor &(Emacs) editor.
Windows platform is having more Text editors than any other platform.Notepad comes up with any Windows OS accesories. But generally Win platform programmers use Textpad for Editing.
Apple Macintosh users can use SimpleText or WorldText.HTML Tag editor for Macitosh envirement is BBEdit.Well I will list lots of Text editors websites at the end.
How to Choose?
Well it depends on user which type of text editor user wants.Because text editor not only used for text editing but Some editors include special features and extra functions, for instance, IDEs, Outliners, are packages with text editors included usually with extra functionality.
Notepad that comes up with Windows os is having 64 KB file size limit.so you need to replace it with other editor if you need Notepad /text editor often.Notepad plus is freeware which overcomes this limit & easy to use.
I think if you want your notepad with no file size limitaion then try Notepad+ is good replacement.
So Choosing Text Editor include following points.
1.Maximum file size limit(atleast 10MB)
2.Dictionary/Spell checker(Optional & Not suitable for programmers)
3.Font settings, Character map, Text clips(like macros), Supports accented characters, Definable file filters etc.
4.Configurable Toolbars, Sorting, Search/Replace, Undo fuctions.
5.Support for most of the file types.Bookmark(URL/Email) function.
6.Text editor that is Designed for Editing Source code. Supports syntax coloring, Custom syntax coloring schemes & more.
7.Last point but optional that Editor must be Cross-Platform, So your friend who uses Mac can try it too!
Low cost or Freeware editors offer all the above mentioned features.so decision is upto you.
