''Daughter, what do you want the most?''

I have a wonderful 9-year-old daughter I love very much, and she never asks for much.

She is into pokemon, I do not understand what she sees in pokemon, but I let her like what she likes as long as it is sane for children.

Pokemon is out of the question as far as a gift for my daughter, because she buys too much pokemon stuff with her allowance.  Lately I have been saving her allowance so she can learn the business of handling money.  She has gone along with my plan for 4 weeks now and she can tell you just how much money she has.  I am going to start her a savings account at our bank.  I think this is a good gift.  I won’t stop her from spending her allowance and I won’t stop her from putting her money in her new account.  (of-course Dad will add a little too it)

Sometimes I just bring her a gift home and I call it a love you gift.  Something simple like  what-nots.  She loves Snoppy figures.  I may get her a love you gift once a month.  I don’t believe in giving her everything she wants, I want her to know how to appreciate what she has and know money does not grow in our garden.

Before school started, I let my daughter go shopping with her Mom and pick out the clothes she wanted not the clothes we wanted for her.  This way she can learn how to make decisions.

I do not go overboard with gifts on her birthday or Christmas.  I always ask her what she thinks she might want most for a gift.  (She knows right off)  She says she will need time to think on the other gifts.

She is by know means spoiled, and we are thankful for that.
