The MOST handsome and updated man in my house is my grandpa... or daddy as well all call him. Leading a very disciplined and simple life, he is a follower of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji, and anything about him will be incomplete if I don’t mention his rigorous meditation and praying regime!!! Born in the India before partition, in the area that is now Pakistan, he moved to Delhi around 60 years back, with his parents, wife and children. Its then that he built this house we live in!!!
He’s always been a great friend, someone you can talk to about ANYTHING under the sky and he will have the right solution for it!!! It’s been ages I gave him anything great, coz he is in bed due to a fracture in his backbone. But the strong man that he is, I am sure he will get well pretty soon and be as active as ever!!! But since some days I see him in low spirits… I thought I’d do this for him and wish him a quick and healthy recovery!!! :)
So here are the things I wish to gift to my daddy…
A nice Footwear…He’s SO fond of wearing good footwear, , I remember times when he would go to the shop 3 time to get the pair exchanged coz he dint find it comfortable!!! He is SO particular even about the slippers he wears in the house. I guess this is the only ‘material’ thing he is so particular about!!! And sometime back he lost a pair of shoes at the temple : P so I want him to buy nice one’s. And I am sure I’ll do it soon!!!
An uninterrupted supply of medicines… He takes soooo many medicines everyday, and to get them he has to stand in the long queues at the Government dispensary, So I wish I could pay for all his medicines so that he never had to go to that retched place again!!! In fact how I wish I could rid him off all the disease so that he never had to take any medicines!!! :)
A Home theatre… Well if u thought that my daddy was an old man lying in bed al day… u are very wrong!!! He is one techno savvy man. From Bill Gates to George Bush to Osama Bin Laden to Atal Bihar Vajpayee, he has complete knowledge about who’s who!!! And at times even surprises us with his knowledge about films. One thing he cannot live without is… his favorite TV soaps…”Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi” and “Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki”… at times he watches even the repeat telecast of it!!! : P
So I wish to fix a Big Screen Home Theater in his room where he can watch all his favorites all day long!!!
A New Mobile… As I already said… He’s big on technology!!! So when mobile phones flooded the Indian markets, he made sure that he wasn’t left behind, so he got himself a Panasonic phone. And now he keeps a Nokia phone. I am sure he will be more than glad to get his handset updated into a nice camera phone!!! So once I start earning, his phone is due!!!
A Speedy Recovery…Its been too long now that he’s been in bed and I want his to be hail and hearty really really soon. So here’s wishing u a Very Speedy Recovery dadda!!! May you have another 100 years to live and happily so :)
