Me & my MOM are Best Friends!
Like me she is Virgo( oops…Like her I am a Virgo)
I tell almost(!) everything to her. We go to movies, shopping, weekly grocery marketing etc. Even I take her to my tailor.
She is not the typical MOM. She is very Practical, Broad-minded and knows what is in fashion!
To be very precise –
· She loves Mtv and Vtv
· She finds all Saans- Bahu serial very boring.
· On her 50th Birthday, she got a Boycut and believe me she looks very young
· She loves to eat pizza, pastries, watching horror-thriller-suspense movies(!)
· She likes young crowd & is very friendly, so all my friends are v.v.v. friendly to her.
I confess . sometimes I cann’t match her level of energy!
Our choices are 95% same( in almost anything).
On Her Birthday…….Every Year …. I think, think, think what to buy? She’ll tell me, “Rekha, Don’t buy anything! I have everything “
But I want to & I buy something or the other for her:
· Card & Dairy Milk, Cake
I just love Chocolate & so does my MOM. So buying Cadbury or Imported Chocolates is must.
I get good card for her. She loves cards. She gets very sentimental with those motherly descriptions.
Now I don’t have time, but we used to make cake for all birthdays, So me & my brother arrange for a cake.
· Chiffon Saris / Dress Material
Though she likes all kind of outfits she is simply crazy for Chiffon Saris. God only knows how many chiffon/ silk saris she has in wardrobe & bags.
I strongly feel that we should wear new clothes on our birthday. So I buy her Sari and get all allied things done also. So that she can wear Sari or Dress on her BirthDay.
· Stud / Matching Ear-rings( Bing ones), Lipstciks, Purse
She has fascination for word ‘Matching’. She will always were matching ear-rings & Bindis.( I learnt this from her)
I remember when I was small, we both used to wear same colours.(!)
Ofcourse, we donot do it now!
She loves to try different Lipsticks from glossy to matte.
She loves to pick purse according to style of sari: i.e. sari is very bright or it is decent! So accordingly she get good collection purses(leather, jute, cotton etc.) from exhibitions and Shopping Centers.
So….We buy something from this category.
· Music – Cds
MOM loves music, it’s her soul. She loves everything from Mukesh to Michel Jackson and Asha to Suniti Chauhan.( I love Mukesh & Asha)
She has superb collection of Old Hindi Songs and yes…she knows almost all new songs( I don’t’ remember any new song)
So sometime we try to add “Boond to Sagar”.
· Flowers
She loves Flowers. She doesnot like perfumes( as they are not natural). Previously, we used to get Gajra for her, but now since has done Boycut, only bouquets can do!
· Mugs
She loves to collect Mugs of different styles / Colors / Shapes. She has a super collection of it.
So if we don’t get / like any of the things mentioned above, we buy this.
Sometimes, if I reach home late on her BirthDay:
I go home, simply kiss her and say “I love you”, she gets senti(Me too!)
then she says’Good girl, U didn’t spend money on Gift!’
Then smilingly I rush to my wardrobe and get something wrapped for her .
And she says… “chalo aaj McDonalds jaate hain”….( Coz I don’t like McDonalds)
