When I am giving a birthday party for my children or any type of childrens party, I always like to go with the theme of the party. I am going to give you some examples of the parties we have had and the games that we came up with to play.
1.) THE PASS IT ON PARTY:
My children and some of their friends have started what we have lovingly deemed a Passing It on Party. What we have done is picked a child from each month of the year whose birthday it is and they will sponsor the giving project for that month. This is a party that is geared toward helping others and will last all year long.
Games:(Your will want your games to focus on helping others.)
Party Dolls: Give each child some markers and a life sized paper doll. Ask them to make these dolls about some of the children that they are going to be helping.
Help Me Help You: Have the children form a circle. If you have more than ten children you can have them form more than one circle. Give each child a large rubber band so that they can connect their wrists with the people on each side of them. When the circles are completely connected, set paper and markers in the middle of each circle. Ask them to draw four pictures:
A picture of one person helping another.
A person smiling
People holding hands
A picture of the world
Only when the pictures are completed can they remove the bands. Talk about how it felt to work together like that.
2.)THE WACKY WADDLER PARTY
The best time to hold the Wacky Waddler Party would be during the summer months or in the fall when the ducks are beginning to migrate south. This is also the time when your children are beginning to migrate back to school.
No party would be complete without a few theme games to entertain your guests. Your Wacky Waddler Party should be no exception.
1.) Duck Hats: Set out some paper cups, markers, craft feathers, tape, and some orange construction paper. As your guests arrive have them find patterns and create a duck hat. Have the children turn their cups upside down and draw some eyes on them. Then show them how to cut duckbills from the construction paper and tape the bills to the bottom edges of the cup. Have the children tape a few of the craft feathers to the top of the cup for decoration. This is a wonderful ice breaker to your party.
2.) Goose Egg: Have the children form two groups. Hand each child a sheet of newspaper and a balloon.(This will serve as your goose egg.) Let the children know that the object of the game is for them to waddle to the opposite side of the room with their balloons between their legs. Have them make a nest with the newspaper that you had given them earlier. When the reach the other end of the room, they must place the egg safely in the nest. All of this is to be done without popping the balloon-hurting the egg.
3.) Pin the Tail Feather on the Duck: This will be the same as pin the tail on the donkey only a duck will be substituted.(Of course, you will be using a feather for the tail.)
4.) Feather Paintings: Cover the table with newspaper. On the table set out bowls of water, craft feathers, paper, and water colors. Let each child pick out one of the feathers of paint with. Then ask the children to paint the worlds silliest duck with their new fangled brush.
And my last one that I am going to mention in this review:
3.) SNOWBALLS IN JULY
This is a birthday party idea that we used for my sons one year. They are always jealous because the other children have winter birthdays and they do not. We entitled the party: Summer Snowball Party Our invitations were donned with the slogan: Who says it never snows in July.
When the children first began to arrive, we gave each of them an ice cube. The children were then asked to meet and greet as many other children as they could before the ice cube melted.
SILLY SKIING:
Before your party begins you will need to cut five heavy trash bags along the sides so that they will open up into rectangles. Tape them together to make one large piece. Lay the ski slide somewhere near the party area. When the children are ready to play this game your will want to hose it down to make the area slick. Have helpers on each side and then encourage the children to slide down on their tummies, knees, backs, and so on.
SNOWBALL FIGHT:
Hand each child a large marshmallow snowball. Form two groups and designate a center line. Tell the children the object of the game is to toss as many snowballs as possible to the other side of the center line in 30 seconds. Have the children begin throwing as soon as you say SNOWBALL? When the game is over you can hand out some fresh snowball marshmallows to eat.
SNOW SCULPTING:
For this you will have to have plenty of patients and several cans of shaving cream. After everyone is finished with their work you may have others guess what it is and then the real fun will begin. Hand out the tennis balls and line the children up. Take turns knocking down the sculptures.
I hope that these will help you when you are planning your childs nest party.
