Mmm mmm good/wood rosin and salt

I’d like to share a little about the’so called’ sports health drinks.  In particular, Gatorade and Powerade.

While these two drinks do replenish the body fluids after sports and exercise, they can also do some harm.

Let’s begin with Gatorade.  It contains 50 calories per 8 ounce serving, no fat, no protein, no dietary fiber, no vitamins or minerals.  It does contain 14 gm of carbohydrates, sugar and 30 mg of potassium. BUT it does contain 110 mg of sodium! Salt!

Lots of salt!  Too much salt!

It also contains, sucrose syrup, citric acid, artificial color and flavor, ester gum and sodium citrate(more salt).

Next, I’ll go on to Powerade.  It contains all of the above, except for the sodium, which is lower.  Powerade contains 55 mg of sodium.  But, Powerade also has another ingredient added, Glysoral Ester of WOOD ROSIN.( MMMMMMM MMMMMMMM  wood rosin)

Water, good old water!  It replenishes fluids after sports and exercise.  There are also no calories or fat and most of all there is NO salt, no artificial color or flavor and no(mmm mmmmmm)wood rosin. Noone need these artificial additives.

Ask any physican and he(or she) will tell you.  ’Drink water, plenty of water while exercising or participating in sports.’  There is nothing that quenches thirst better than a cold glass of pure water.

Mind you, every now and then having some Gatorade or Powerade won’t harm you, but please, don’t think of them as Health Drinks.
