My review is not really about the food or the service neither the ambience or the pricing. My review is about something very different nevertheless important.
My review today is about the Home Delivery service provided by Chungs on New Bel Road. I feel really sad while saying this, believe me I do, that I dnt want to ever order food from them due to the atrocious manner they speak to you when u call them up for home delivery.
To begin with, the menu they give you for home delivery doesnt have the price for the food items on it. So you call them assuming they will be as helpful as they are when u are at the restaurant.
To your despair, the person who answers the phone (Man) has a very unwelcoming and unfriendly voice which sounds more like he is a doing a favour on you by just answering the phone.
You might excuse tht unfriendly tone, assuming he has had a very busy and tiring day. Then comes the part when u start to order and start asking him questions about what would go well with wht or perhaps whts spicy on the menu and so on. The answers u receive are not only irrelevant but give u the feeling tht u have made a grave mistake even by asking the questions. The tone in which the answers are given make u feel like, Oh, so you are stupid and you want me to be a part of your stupidity as well. Like this is not enough when u ask them the price of the items ordered, they will most likely come up with the price they want to charge you depending on ur voice, I pressume. In other words they make uo the prices depending on their mood.
When u ask them how come its soooo much, they turn around and say well if this is wht u wanna eat , this is how much it will cost you.
After you have gone through all this with them and finally give them your address feeling fortunate tht this unpleasant conversation is going to come to an end, they go ahead n tell you , oh we are sorry your house is tooo far (even though its not more than 2.5 to 3 kms) so we can not deliver unless your bill is above a certain amount and you are like wait a minute, I ordered last week and there was no such rule then and bang comes the reply, this has been our rule since the restaurant opened, and you end up feeling like a fool again. Then after arguing for sometime you realise that you are getting nowhere so you end up asking wht is it going to take to get food delivered to you, they say but off course more money.
Now at this stage, you have 2 options, you either give in or you abuse the fool on the other end of the phone n hang up (or talk to the Manager which is not much help either).
Hence, being the kind of person who would not give in I have come to the conclusion that, even though the food is really good, I would not order from this place unless the staff taking the order is taught how to speak to customers. Especially, in todays world, where every industry is giving so much importance to customer service, these ppl answering the phone should be taught some basic etiquette.
The question here is, Are you willing to pay this price(the way your are treated) just for food, tht indeed is delicious, but not like something you cant get elsewhere?
So I request all you guys living in and around New Bel Road who have faced this situation to make it a point to voice your opinion and make sure they get the message.
