Chup chup ke ...It entertains.....

Thank God! Priyadarshan is back in fine form, and he has matured a bit too. Laced with a pleasant theme, great comedy and super-duper starcast, Chup Chup ke hits you with unexpected charm. Unless I grossly underestimate the power of World Cup football, this film is bound to do boffo business at the box office. And deservedly so.   By the time you leave the auditoria, it will have you smiling from ear to ear.Priyadarshan handles the movie flawlessly through the first half, although in the second half the direction gets a bit sloppy but that may be because of the story.

Jeetu (Shahid) is a young lad who always seems to be getting himself into trouble. He is from a small town, his father (Anupam Kher) is a retired school teacher and he has a fiancée Pooja (Sushma Reddy). Unfortunately Jeetu is in debt to many moneylenders due to which his fiancée and father are forced to face embarrassing situations. Pooja’s father, Manoj Joshi also advises his daughter to leave Jeetu as he is a good for nothing lad. But she is extremely loyal to Jeetu and prefers to stand by him during his time of crisis.

But Jeetu himself is frustrated by all the embarrassment that he has caused his father, hence he comes up with a plan. Its better if you watch the film!!

The schizoid plot hasn’t a single drop of coherence. But what matters is present; the comic situations all feature rib-tickling dialogues and an endless barrage of hilarious moments. Sure, these situations make little to no sense when strung together, but they manage to keep one’s attention and evoke laughter as they unfold. In an attempt to make the film an all-round entertainer, the screenwriters have placed a couple of miserably underdeveloped subplots in the film. The lack of real development in any of these plotlines is understandable, however. Development in these plotlines would have made the film longer, but not better, and had it plunge into rambling depths. This is a light-hearted farce, after-all.

As a self-mocking, tongue-in-cheek comedy that shouldn’t be taken seriously, the film is excellent. The charming romantic track of Shahid-Kareena is sped up with Himesh’s wonderful songs, and thecomic twists that make them fun to watch.

Performances are another reason the film is so enjoyable.Kareena looks incredible, dances remarkably well, and shows quite a bit of comic range in some of the light romantic scenes. Cute newcomer Sushma is fun to watch as well . Rajpal complements Shahid well on screen,   and plays his scenes in a deliciously over the top manner that fits this comedy exceptionally well.

Paresht is at his comic best in this film. This is his smoothest, most uninhibited funny-man performance. His sarcastic style is frequently laugh out loud funny, and he pulls all of his sequences with a great balance of tongue-in-cheek humor and conviction.

The greatest aspect of the film is undoubtedly Shahid. His body language, expressions, and dialog delivery are all flawless. Whether he’s delivering a one-liner with effectiveness, or making funny expressions in almost every frame, he is doing something that is downright side-splitting.

The songs are nicely picturised but they seem to lack a real tune. A nice melody wouldn´t have gone amiss. The producers have attempted to make the music and lyrics appropriate to the story but if the songs are not really anything memorable, then what is the point of having them? Priyan controls the goings-on in the story very well and extracts assured performances from all of his actors.

Chup Chup Ke delivers on its promise to thoroughly entertain anyone looking for a light-hearted farce. The film has comedy, romance in spades, and the goings-ons are further uplifted by incredible music, nice song picturizations, solid performances, and one outstanding turn by Shahid Kapoor.

As long as one realizes that it is not meant to be taken seriously, it has a great few hours of care-free, rib-tickling fun to offer. There are few comedies making the rounds at the moment that will have you laughing as hard, or as frequently. Not to be missed, highly recommende.
