Booked Hotel Cecil, Matheran just to experience the dirt and sub standard rooms. After arrival at the Hotel I contacted the Customer support to request for change of Hotel or refund of money. The customer support executive could neither help us with another hotel nor refund. The booking voucher of Cleartrip clearly says that the local hotel representative can not help you with the refund, so I requested for refund which was never entertained. Further to our shock we came to know that the guest next room had paid one third of what we had paid.
The Hotel Cecil was very dirty. Just to name a few things, Soiled, stained bed sheets, pillow covers. Toilets are dirtier that the public toilets.(Photos attached), Torn blankets, 2 feet long cobwebs, walls with different types of fungus(ideal for falling sick), Noisy fans, dirty windows. After requesting repeatedly for mosquito coils or spray we could not get any relief. Whole night we were kept awake by mosquitos. Water provided for bath was full of muck. The food quality went of deteriorating as the number of rooms occupied went on increasing.
All this torture after paying more that Rs.5000 plus per room per day.
Cleartrip customer support is difficult to get across. It took us almost 25 minutes to get access to the executive just to explain the whole scenario. In spite of the grievances they did not have simple courtesy to confirm whether the problem has been resolved. the customer support executive was given three contact numbers. We were left on our fate. Later on we were informed by the Hotel Management that they did not have any clue of our arrival, so they could not be ready with the rooms(?), which I find hard to believe considering the long weekend.
Please do not plan any vacation through such travel portals especially Cleartrip. The hotels listed, are apparently not verified for even the basic amenities. We have been royally cheated. The photos shown on the website are far away from the actuals.
