I planned holidays with my parents for a religious trip to Amritsar. Unfortunately I made hotel booking through Cleartrip and this proved to be my worst trip ever. All thanks to Cleartrip. On 30th July, I made two room bookings (Separated but within 5 minutes, as amount was non refundable in case of cancellation) in the same hotel for 1 night stay for travel date on 6th August. I paid non refundable amount and got the confirmation vouchers.
On 5th evening Cleartrip called me to inform that Hotel is completely sold out and one room is not available and proposed me to shift to another equivalent category hotel. I was on the way to Amritsar and was shocked to hear that as I had both confirmed booking. There was no explanation given by Cleartirp, why they were sleeping since 30th July despite confirming the booking. Having limited choice left, I requested them to shift both rooms in another hotel as I could not split my family in two different hotels.
They kept me waiting and despite multiple followups with them, they refused to shift both rooms in one hotel and suggested to stay half of my family in one hotel and half in other. Till 9:30 night, I was calling them from the train to request to accommodate us in one single and I end up asking to cancel both booking.
To the height of their unprofessional attitude, Intention to cheat and get money by hook and crook, they told me that I will not get a refund of the confirmed room and will get refund only for the room that they are not able to arrange. I end up losing one room booking charges and standing at Amritsar Rly station with my family without any Hotel for us. This was the most embarrassing situation for me and my family just because of Cleartrip.
Due to long weekend, all the good hotels were already booked and I end up staying in a one star hotel paying hefty amount to at least get some roof for my family.
While I am exploring the Consumer court option, wanted to warn all other readers about Cleartirp fraud practice. If anyone can share me the mailing address (not email address) in NCR, will highly appreciate that as I would like to send them a notice.
