Cleartrip:
I had booked a hotel from Cleartrip but due to unforeseen circumstances had to cancel it.
1) I cancelled the booking 6 days prior to my check-in.
2) The terms were a little vague, so I called up customer care and they said that I will get the ENTIRE amount refunded.
3) After that I got a mail from Cleartrip(around a week after cancellation) to check with my bank as the money was refunded. NO money had come.
4) I mailed to Cleartrip and they said they will get back to me.
5) After a month almost I get a mail that I will get NO money back and a WRONG cancellation policy was pasted.
6) When I brought to the notice the original cancellation policy, I got another bullshit response.
ORIGINAL RESPONSE:
If you cancel within 5 day(s) before check-in, you will incur 50.0% of your total stay. If you cancel between 5 day(s) and 10 day(s) before check-in, you will incur 100.0% of your total stay.
After a month CLEARTRIP refused to pay and pasted this policy:
If you cancel within 15 day(s) before check-in, you will incur 100.0% of your total stay.(i.e. entire amount paid by you would be deducted).
CLEARTRIP LAST RESPONSE(After I showed them the original policy):
If you cancel within 5 day(s) before check-in, you will incur 50.0% of your total stay plus Cleartrip cancellation charges of Rs. 300/- per booking.
If you cancel between 5 day(s) and 10 day(s) before check-in, you will incur
100.0% of your total stay(i.e. entire amount paid by you would be deducted).
Please note that, the word "incur" in this policy states the amount which would be charged.
Hence, as per above rate rules we regret to inform you that no refund is applicable from our end.
I was totally taken aback.
So this means had I cancelled within 5 days, I would have got 50% of the money back. Because I was kind enough and cancelled earlier I will not get anything
Apart from this, I have all the mails stating that the money will be returned.
