Club Mahindra (Munnar) is the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in. It claims to be a 5 star but the rooms are not even comparable to a 2 star property. I booked the hotel for my honeymoon assuming it was a 5 star, however the Hotel is no more than a cheap motel. After an OK welcome with a Tika and jaljeera we had to wait for 2 hours to check into a room.
The room was old, badly done and the bath room was very small. I saw a Bucket and a Mug in a 5 star for the first time. We requested a room change on another floor first then a different room on the same floor however hotel staff was just not willing to do it. We paid the entire money in advance therefore the hotel staff had nothing at stake.
Then we tried the food but that also came with a claus. The property has only one restaurant which has nice interiors, where they yserve you only buffet, but if you want A-la-Carte, then the hotel has another badly done room, therefore either you pay for the buffet or you don’t get to sit in the restraunt. Food was not great either.
There were a couple of things which made the experience from bad to worse and then to the worst ever for us.
They don’t offer a warm welcome, since the staff doesn’t care, for a honeymoon couple the Hotel doesn’t even send a bunch of flowers forget about anything else.
The property is 22 kms off Munnar therefore everytime you have to go for sight seeing it takes 1 hr extra.
Since the property is off the city, there are no good options to have your meals, therefore you will have to have overpriced bad tasting food.
We ordered simple food like Dal and Rice along with raita. We had to return the dal since it was bad. We had the food with Raita which was loaded with water.
- SERVICE: We gave our clothes for laundry, but the clothes were returned dirty. The staff puts the clothes in a bag therefore the clothes get crushed veen before they reach your room.
The towels sent to my room had stains.
To summarize, the hotel staff does not have the intent to make the stay pleasant, secondly the staff is not really proud of what they do, the have an I don’t care attitude. Thirdly when you compare Club Mahindra with a 3 star hotel you find the 3 star hotle better in terms of Accomodation, Food and Quality of service. I stayed at Hotel Travancore court which is a 3 star hotel but excellent in terms of rooms, bathrooms, food and service.
