Club Mahindra, Varca Beach, Goa

We were on a holiday at Club Mahindra at their Varca beach property during mid May 2010. The check in was smooth and the next morning, we put in a request for a change in the unit (we are red season members). This request was noted down and never acted upon.


The resort opens out into a beach which is very less crowded and beautiful.


All amenities exist in the resort including 2 swimming pools, 3 restaurants, children’s play area and activity centre. There is a taxi stand right outside the resort from where one has to hire taxis for sightseeing (they fleece the customers as they charge union determined rates and are a monopoly on to themselves). Once can hire a taxi for a day trip to visit South Goa attractions and another day for a trip to North Goa attractions.


South Goa is more peaceful whereas North Goa is preferred by the party going types.


Good season to visit Goa is during the winter. Summers are crowded more due to the holiday season.


As far as the service in the resort goes, with the occupancy running close to near/full capacity levels, the service levels tend to dip. Waiting time at the restaurant can be painful, especially during the mornings for breakfast as well as during dinner. The jacuzzi was not working when we visited. The swimming pools would be crowded and service can border on indifference.


Property renovation is in progress and Club Mahindra was planning to have more resorts operational in Goa shortly. Compared to a few other properties of this group (like Coorg), I would rate my experience a notch or two lower at this place.


One may possibly find places outside that are less expensive for the same price and similar facilities.
