We have had a good experience

Our son has been going to CMR NPS since the last four years (LKG, UKG, 1st and now 2nd grade) and ever since I have been reading many reviews (mostly bad) about the school and management. And I could not agree more with other parents that the sudden increase in fees last year (with no reason communicated whatsoever) is too harsh and expecting too much from parents. However, I have equally good reasons to be satisfied with the school. Firstly, there are no pages of homework that the child gets, there are round-the-year tests which get graded towards the end. The school’s teaching and admin staff is experienced and cordial. In fact, when our child was initially refusing school early this year, they had a very nice in-house counsellor to talk to him and he was okay within a day.

There are regular calendarized events happening throughout the year (spell-bee, recitation, sloka competition etc. etc.) the selections for which starts in each class section. The year-end report card looks at an all round development including neatness, social courtesy etc. They have decent infrastructure in terms of labs, AV rooms, Auditorium...oflate they have been asking children to develop reading habit. They have a small bookrack in each class with books which children bring.

There are obv. limitations too, such as the lack of a large playgroud, parent-teacher meeting is not formal, no extracurricular as part of the curriculum (you can obv. opt for them after school), no swimming pool, not as technologically savy as perhaps other public schools (with SMS, Smartboards etc.) which they should given they are charging as much or more...

However, as long as the child is happy and doing well, we don’t have any reason for worry. I have been very satisfied so far and would recommend with a caveat that every parent’s expectations from schools are different. What works for us may not work for you...
