Coca Cola has been a popular drink for many years, and continues to be so, Its blend of fizzy bubbles and sweet taste can fool someone that it is truly refreshing (I say this because Coca Cola has caffeine, a known diruetic). Coca Coca has been in a war with Pepsi Cola for decades, and over time Pepsi has been winning (in the U.S.A they have grabbed a small amount of market share). But Coca Cola is truly a world wide brand.
Personally, I do enjoy Coca Cola, but I enjoy Pepsi more. Coke to me can be inconsistent. Sometimes it really tastes great, and sometimes it seems watered down, and these are cans from the same bottling plant, Pepsi seems to be more consistent. Coca Cola is less sweet than Pepsi but seems more carbonated. Again a personal observation, but Coke always seems to taste better in cans than 2 liter bottles, I have no idea why.
Coke (like Pepsi) is more like a junk food than a refreshing drink. A 12 ounce can contains the equivelant of nine teaspoons of sugar! It also packs in 180 calories a pop. When I was younger, I would quaff down more than two liters of Coke or Pepsi a day, and now I have the body to show for it. (I recently switched to diet soda)
Coca Colas reputation as a pick me up is way overrated. Compared to tea and coffee (and Mountain Dew) Coke has very little caffeine in it. I know I am a extreme case, but I can drink 2 liters of Coke and feel no effects, but if I have two cups of coffee, I can definitely feel the caffeine. Coca Cola can relieve the effects of a upset stomach, but ginger ale is better.
So in conclusion, I enjoy Coke, and will buy it if it is on sale, but think Pepsi is better. Like all sugar laden drinks I would think most would be better off enjoying this in moderation
