Coca Cola is my very favorite beverage. Its been my favorite since the mid-80s when the only soft drink machine outside my office was one that had coca cola products. That machine kept the cans icy cold and that was such a treat in hot Texas weather. Coca Cola comes in so many different varieties and sizes--cans, bottles, plastic liters, etc.
However, my favorite form is still the 12 oz. cans because the aluminum seems to keep the liquid cold longer.
Ive been delighted to find that when I travel that I am able to find my favorite beverage everywhere Ive been--from Central America to Okinawa. In fact I saw a size in Asia that I had never seen in the United States--a four ounce can.
The best way I can describe the taste of Coca Cola is to say that its a sweet carmelized corn syrup in carbonated water--the first ingredients listed on the can.
I used to drink Pepsi and Dr. Pepper and still do if Coke is not available. However, I find that Coca Cola has a smoother taste that is not as sweet as Pepsi and without the distinctive tangy flavor of Dr. Pepper.
As much as I enjoy Coke, it has its drawbacks. Its easy to drink too much and to become addicted to the caffeine and sugar. Theres 140 calories in every can and 39 grams of carbohydrates--not bad for an occasional treat or pick-me-up but too much sugar and caffeine if overconsumed.
I always feel a little more energetic after drinking a Coca Cola and highly recommend it for a treat!
