Cochin international airport, Kochi is located in the commercial centre of Gods own country, Kerala. A beautiful landmark with its traditional architecture, Cochin international Airport is one of the fastest developing airport in India and is a far cry from the earlier airport which is now used as a naval station. The airport is conveniently located in the heart of Kerala with major tourist destinations close by and is 35 km away from town.Having established in 1999, the airport has many major airlines operating from it.
Travelling back home for a vacation is something almost all the NRIs cherish but most of the times they face horrifying experiences on landing in their own home land thanks to the corrupt officials who shamelessly lay hands on anything that is found in the passengers luggage. The passenger has to helplessly swallow all the frustration that comes on seeing these greedy people take away the hard earned goods as if it was their born right. Its common to find officials open the luggage, make a whole scramble out of it, take whatever he needs and then leave the passenger packing the whole mess theyve made and rushing to get out of the airport somehow.Ive faced this many times in other airports in India but ive never had any difficulty when ever I travelled through this airport.
The customs, immigration and check-in all were handled efficiently with out causing any discomfort. Moreover the staff and officials were quite helpful too. The airport is truly international in terms of service, cleanliness & ambience and is professionally well handled. The newly introduced duty free shops only adds to its quality of service.
One draw back about this airport is the users fee of 500 Rs which every passenger departing on international flights has to remit.Even though its not an issue for the upper class, majority of the people are finding it unjustified.Other than that theres nothing worth complaining about Cochin international airport.
