Movie Review - 'Cocktail'

A hot afternoon, long drive and a good company to come along. Thus I and my good friend landed in cinema theater to watch Bollywood’s recently released rom-com film ‘Cocktail’.

Overall view of the film – A (boy) falls in love with B (1st girl), then ‘A’ falls in love with C (2nd Girl). B and C are the best friend. The whole confusion arises and C decides not to come between A and B and thus she moves out. This is the story of Cocktail.

Story:

Gautam Kapoor (Saif Ali Khan) a hardcore womanizer from Delhi flies to London to his uncle’s place (Boman Irani) for his job purpose. Meera (Diana Penty) comes from Delhi to London in search of her husband Kunal (Randeep Honda) who later refuses to take her home. Veronica (Deepika Padukone) is a rich girl and a party animal, which stays in London away from her parents.

Veronica takes Meera home and allows her to live with her. Couple of scenes later Veronica hooks up with Gautam and the three start living in together. Meera cannot stand the sight of Gautam but manages to bear him as he is her best friend’s boyfriend.

The whole confusion starts when Gautam’s mother (Dimple Kapadia) unexpectedly lands up at Verinoca’s place where Gautam stays now. Knowing Veronica’s bold behaviour Gautam puts up a show of Meera being his girlfriend. Gautam’s mother immediately approves their relation and has great plans for their wedding back in India. Knowing Gautam’s mother liking for a girl like Meera, Veronica now wants to change her lifestyle and wanted to become like her and spend rest of the life with Gautam.

Will Gautam marry to Veronica? Does Kunal re-enter Meera’s life? Will Meera approves for Gautam’s love? Watch the film to find out the answers.

Star Performances:

Saif Ali Khan – Even at the age of 40, Saif plays a perfect role of a 20 years playboy. Deepika Padukone – Her bold and bindass attitude helps her to play her part very easily as a confused-spoilt-brat-with-a-heart-of-gold.

Diana Penty – A new bee in Bollywood has a very good part to play in the film as the sweet girl next door.

Randeep Honda – Has no much of the screen time but he’s good in whatever little role he got in the film.

Dimple Kapadia & Bomain Irani – are the delight to watch in the film.

Songs:

‘Daaru Desi’ and ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu’ are already on the top of the chart and being my personal favourite in the film. The other songs are good too.

Best Scenes:

Saif Ali Khan’s conversion with Boman Irani in a bar while Opera is going on in background.

Saif Ali Khan’s final scene with Diana Penty and Deepika Padukone.

Final Verdict:

Cocktail is a good enjoyable movie to watch out!
