Back To Melody

A small correction for starters: Mouthshut seems to have got themselves terribly mixed up. Coldplay and James Blunt are two different artistes. The James Blunt album which I am reviewing here is called Back To Bedlam.

For true music lovers, this album must have come as a huge relief. In a year dominated by rap (Fifty Cents), techno, trance and insipid rock (Rolling Stones, U2, etc), the James Blunt album marked a return to good song-writing, strong melodies and high-quality instrumentation.

The song that everyone is talking about is You’re Beautiful which is truly wonderful and also has a very engaging music video. However, the album contains several other gems, especially a track called Wise Men. After a long time, here’s an album that one can comfortably listen to back-to-back.

If you are the kind of music lover who really enjoyed listening to artistes like The Beatles, Lobo, Abba, Paul McCartney, etc, that is, if you’ve always liked melody and well-crafted lyrics, you are going to love this album.
