... What if you don’t like my comments? What if my criticism of your rev bugs you? What if mine sounds trite/cliched? Everything that is to be said, has already been... what more?
Probably these are the questions that cross our minds when we hit the ’’Read Comments’’ option.
What if you don’t like my comments?
Let us be what we are. No two fingers are alike. Just because someone disagrees, it doesn’t mean that he/she cannot be your friend.
For e.g. my friend deja_vu (Sumit) ... Rs me & sometimes leaves ’I disagree with your Kareena bashing’ comments. It is alright. I know what his views are & he is being honest about it [ instead of ’err... I HRed you... but what was it about??? :(’ comments ]
I do feel happy about his honesty... and I don’t intend to give up Kareena bashing... as I love to hate her [ attitude ]
But we still do Trust each other !!!
The point is, Like those who like you... disagreements apart... ’If I scratch your back & you scratch mine’ be the Mouthshut policy... soon our backs will be full of scratch marks ===> :(
What if my comments bug you?
Please ask questions related to the review being commented on [ other things could be PSed ]
I normally do not feel angry unless the attack is overtly
1) Personal [ minnows like you]
2) Unnecessary [ For e.g. attacking my country while discussing some other country... what does India have got to do with Iraq??? ]
3) Holier than you [ I know much better than you... blah.. blah...]
4) Fall in line or else [ what? you don’t like that Great Woman?]
5) You better take it back or else I will not read/rate you? I will remove you from TL [ who begged you to do so??]
I get bugged by this as I think these are indications of an Immature individual & don’t deserve an answer or require an equally strong rebuttal [ I am not Gandhian :(]
Who said the comments are only reserved to flatter the reviewer? If someone cannot handle honest criticism probably such an immature individual is not worth your respect??
A good way to learn the maturity level of a reviewer
When you post a disagreement... the response of the author also tells you the kind of person he/she is. When ever you post a negative remark... you can expect the other person to justify or correct or ignore.
1) Logical justification : I stand by what I said coz ... [ A honest person ]
2) Illogical justification : I was Gods PA for 5 years... [ An egotist... better avoid? ]
3) Logical Correction : Sorry I was wrong... [ Honesty ]
4) Illogical Correction : My friends felt bad... [ chicanery]
5) Ignore : No replies... probably the reviewer doesn’t care for my opinion. Why I should I care for hers/his??
Most of my Trust List was developed in the comments sections of mine & others reviews
What if mine sounds trite/cliched?
Some things never sound Cliched. When we were kids we always loved to hear our ’I love you’ from our parents, in our youth from our lovers/spouses & in our middle-age it would still please us to hear same old ’I love you’ from our kids.
Warm friendly comments are always welcome... whether they are first or 501st.
[ We do have a ’First to comment’ race here ;). Gotta see who’s gonna make it this time :))]

This IS how you grow... if first to comment any Tom, Dick & Harry will prove himself an Einstein... the trick is to be the 11th & still be the first the reviewer replies to!!!
Those who write such imaginative comments will grow into REAL star writers... the writers that most love to read & comment on.
The real maestros in writing comments are disskonnekt, premjit, ganeshb, rjois, spookay, fatcat ... I try very hard... but can’t beat :(
Others whose comments I enjoy madlalya, just-did-it, Concerned... and above all... [ her comments leave me ROTFL ]
Comments always lead to more Comments ;)

Just kidding... You are free to write whatever you like... or remain silent if you so wish... who am I to force you? but still can’t fathom was it awe or was it distaste? Both I hate to be :(
Definitely I love witty comments [ I will be a hypocrite if I say No]... but warm ’Gr8 Rev. Mate’ comments are equally welcome.
