Bad, bad news

I went to the store to buy a computer. I had wanted a Dell but at the time, they were too expensive and the shipping costs were too high. Seems like the prices dropped right after I bought this nightmare. I had not had it a week before it crashed. Crashed so badly I had to return it. Got a new one. Should have insisted on my money back right then but nooooooo, gave it another chance. The next thing was that it crashed again. Had to put it in the shop.

Yes, it was under warranty, but it made me drive an hour out and an hour back to drop it off and then be without it while they fooled around with it, replacing everything inside and finally the hard drive. I lost everything I’d put in it again. This happened to me three times. Now, as a writer, I was put in a very bad position.

My computer was in the shop more than it was home. To make things worse, when it was home, it refused to speak to the new printer I’d bought. It denied it’s presence no matter what I did. How do I write? How do I print? I wanted to drop kick this sorry electronic mess off a bridge! I should have gotten the extended warranty but at the time, I maxed out my expenses by getting what I thought would be a great computer. I really made a mistake. The last time it completely quit, I got a kid to fix it.

Lately, the enter key has quit working. I don’t blame the kid. He got it up and running again after it quit for the umpteenth time. Try to write without an enter key. I’ve missed a lot of deadlines over this horrible computer. My speakers no longer work. I can only say that I learned a great lesson and should have done a lot more research before getting stuck with this thing. Now, I can only save up my money so I can buy that Dell I really need. I will never again buy anything by Compaq and hope all of you will listen to someone who has truly been ripped off.
