Complan is a very old highly nutritional drink in Indian Market and may be one of the first in this category. My native place is in Assam where Sun rises very early and in summer at around 0400 hours. So, during my schooldays I used to go for football practice session early in the morning and comeback home around 0600 hours. My mother used to give me a glass of Complan with Milk and I used to finish it in seconds. In those days, only Complan Plain was available and that variant is not that palatable. Mother used to add some flavors like vanilla in it to make it tastier. During mango session, with mango juice it goes very well. This is a thirty years old story. Things have changed a lot.
Today, we are lucky to have it with various flavors like chocolate and mango. Unfortunately, nowadays my wife does not offer me this drink because I have to reduce my calorie intake. No problem, Skip lunch and have Complan Mango. My kids and parent takes it regularly. In fact, it is one of the grocery items in the list when you go to Raigad Bazaar in the beginning of the month.

Why it is special to my family
It is fortified with some essential vitamins, phosphorus, lot of calcium other than usual carbohydrate, protein, fat etc. Every 100 gm of Complan gives you around 444 Kcal (as claimed by manufacturer). So, a cup of Complan (with two tablespoon of Complan powder equal to 33 gm) is equivalent to around 150 Kcal. You will get some more calories if you add sugar and use milk in place of water.
If you go through the nutrition chart, printed on the wrapper, you will find lot of useful minerals and vitamins in it. Those make it different from other nutrition drink.
A normal active man weighing about 65 kg require about 3000 Kcal a day and for a normal woman weighing about 55 kg require about 2200. If you are already following a diet plan and reduced calorie intake by 500-1000 Kcal a day then it is better to adjust your diet plan if you want to introduce Complan in your diet. Beauty of this drink is, comparatively (equivalent weight of Good Day or Parle G biscuit) low calorie and high mineral and vitamin content.

With twenty-three vital nutrients (as claimed by Heinz) it is well planned food. Other essential like Dietary Fiber, Anti-oxidants, and some more Proteins is available from Vegetable, Grains, and Fruits etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Glaxo first marketed Complan in India. Now it is a product of Heinz India Pvt. Ltd. Heinz is comparatively new in India but a trusted name in many parts of the world. I trust what they claim.

One may refer my opinion on Parle G and Good Day biscuits. I am avoiding to repeat the same thing in this opinion. Also may refer somewhat related articles of Sujay Marthi (for healthy future).
