In Canada there was only one disc.
Evening television in Canada has been mostly re-runs so we decided to walk over to Block Busters and rent a video.
CONSTANTINE looked very interesting, when we read the back of the cover. I love books and films about supernatural occurrences so we rented this movie.
The Main Stars
Keanu Reeves - John Constatine is a detective.
Rachel Weisz - Angela Dodson and Isabel Dodson
Tilda Swinton - Gabriel
Peter Stormare - Satan
Gavin Rossdale - Balthazar
Jose Zuniga - Detective Weiss
Pruitt Vince - Father Hennessy
The Plot
Angela Dodson is a Los Angeles Policewoman who has been told that her twin sister has committed suicide, by jumping from the top of a mental hospital
Angela knows that Isabel would never do that because she was a devote Catholics. She goes to see Father Hennessy to make plans for the funeral and he tells her that because the death was a suicide the church wont bury Isabel...unless it can be proven that it wasnt suicide.
Angela goes to see Detective John Constantine and asks for his help.
Contantine has been to hell and back before the movie begins. In an attempt to win back a place in Heaven he agrees to help her.
What I Thought
Youll see what the writers think heaven and hell look like by looking deeply through the eyes of a cat!
The cast played there parts very well. Reeves voice was so low it bothered me.
The music, costumes and stunts were fabulous. The plot was good and you wondered what was going to happen next.
The editor cut this film badly as there were large gaps between the scenes. I also got confused at time about who was good and who was evil. Constantine is a film about the possibility of opening the doors of perception, revealing not just a netherworld of angels and demons but the skull beneath the skin.
Constatine is a chain smoker and that bother me because teenagers are going to see that and think its cool

My Conclusion
I hate to say this about a fellow Canadian, but I think that this was one on Keanu Reeves worse films and I think he should go back to playing in his punk rock band, (Mucous Membrane), until he can find a script that is as good as his acting can be.
Thanks for reading my review.
