Great rememberance...Coorg

Well writing after a long time here on mouthshut, was very busy for the last 2 weeks and was not able to come back from the beautiful place called coorg.

Coorg... Ultimate it was.... Since the time I came to Bangalore, I had a misconception that coorg is a one day trip and I can go there anytime..but no way... After a lot of inspiration from my cubie, we decided to go to coorg on the long weekend starting 22/Apr/2005 and we 9 people started on the excursion to coorg,

since we planned a trek as well to tadiyandmol peak during these 3 days, we had a lot of trekking stuff as well packed with us, but otherwise we were travelling light.. we had hired a tempo traveller for the entire trip and friday morning we set out. breaking for breakfast only through the entire journey to coorg, we reached madikeri around 2:30 and decided to skip lunch and go to abbey falls straight away and have lunch later.

So we reached abbey falls and I was expecting something good, (Being from delhi I have been to many magnificent falls in India(Up there in north)) but looking at it though the falls were really beautiful, but the water was not very much to entice me into it... but I desperately needed a bath after almost 7hrs journey, I decided to venture... Firstly we tried to go via the side, on the rocks to the center but were unable to reach there because of slippery rocks... so we came back disappointed without a single drop of water, but a lot of sweat.. then we decided to go to the top of the falls.. and this time we succeeded.. found a small fall just above it, but the flow was amazing there.. so we had a bath there, but again dried by the time we came back....:-( but it was fun it was quite high and superb view from the top....

Then starting from there everybody was hungry (only bf and a lot of trek food we had) but still we decided to go to Raja’s Seat before the sunset....This place was also superb but we missed the sunset....a little late.. but we spent some quality time there. The weather was turning pleasant, was a little hot during the day... Then we enquired about our trek that night but locals advised us against it as it there was a danger of elephants in the night, so we thought we will have the trek in the morning and hve a sound sleep tonight...

So after booking into a lodge we went for dinner, one more strange thing, you do not get veg food late into the night, i.e mostly restaurants serve you drinks and non veg, so it is a problem for girls to be there for the late night dinner....the restaurant was not very good but was crowded for the reason mentioned above, as it did not serve any alchohol and non veg. So a tiresome day and one to come (we were palnnning to trek) we went off to sleep.....

The next morning we cancelled the plan for the trek again(How many times) and decided to explore other places in coorg. So we started for nisargdhama-the river islands after a not so heavy breakfast...we spent around half day there sitting in the water and elephant rides and icecreams, but no lunch again... and after that we decided that we will finally go for the trek the same night against the advice of everybody.. 2 of the group prefered to stay back and the rest willingly or not were set out for the trek...

For the trek part I am writing another revu... just after this so u can access that later.. We came back in the morning from the trek, totally tired and fascinated by the natural beauty we saw on the trek... we rested for a while and then started back for bangalore... On the way we stopped at the golden temple monastory and that was magnificent as well.. and after that sleep till bangalore... reached bangalore at 1:00 in the morning to be ready for the next day to office????

Superb Weekend Finally coorg is an ultimate place to be: If you are here down south and u do not visit corrg, u sure miss something.. Leave ooty if there is no time, but not coorg.... Natural beauty is in abundance, the aroma of coffee and tea..., the weather.... superb place

P.S. All those who wanna see the pictures can mail me and I ll send them the link...
