Delicious Food …

There are various kinds of restaurants, ones that have a single branch within a city and renowned for the food they serve , there are some which start small and grow and develop into a premier eating place, but then we are talking of types that start big , think big and have a chain of restaurants within the city , we are talking about Copper Chimney located at Sakinaka , in the Andheri Kurla road in our very own Mumbai erstwhile Bombay which also has two other branches in the city.

This restaurant is a perfect example of a high priced eatery which specializes in a particular cuisine and excels in it and is quite well known in Gourmet circles. The “Just enough light”, impeccable dressed servers , two floors – a mezzanine and normal and a relaxed atmosphere with tables spread out greet you as you enter this restaurant. Specializing in Punjabi Cuisine and excelling in it , and being high priced making patrons visit you time and again is no mean task.

Soups have become a fad with Indians which has forced typical Indian eateries such as these to include Chinese in their Menu to accommodate soups , as in no other cuisine would you see such a wide array of soups which are widely consumed by patrons. So we have the Hot and sours, Manchows, Talumein and the types, but if the mood in you is typically Indian go for the Tomato Shorba , the Palak Shorba ( trust me this is delectably tasty) , Lentil Shorba and Vegetable Shorba. Shorbas are Indian soups and are generously filled with cream with a thick puree of the vegetable or meat of your choice.

The Masala Papads are nice and Crisp filled with finely cut onions and tomatoes spiced with chilli powder which makes an ideal munching snack before you go on the attack mode !!! Lets fill ourselves with the starters, while the veggies have the usual Hara Bhara Kebabs and Tandoori Paneer , one also comes across Papad Rolls and Vegetable Seekh Kebabs . Non Veggies don’t fret the Reshmi Kebabs are as resham as they proclaim to be and so are the Chicken tandooris .

Half Full and wondering what to eat next here we come to the main courses , in a restaurant like this any dish would be made quite well so its never really a bother to choose a dish. Asking the Servers on the specialty of the restaurant would do a lot of good, unlike other restaurants they don’t suggest ridiculously high priced dishes which don’t appeal to your tongue, rather they suggest some delightful combinations. I wouldn’t be able to say much for the Non Veggies ( I think I would already be a villain , as I have never spoken much about meat in any of my reviews ) but the Mirchi Ka Salan was brilliant , in typical Hyderabadi Style this sour tasting big peppers stuffed with Besan is a brilliant dishes, as for other dishes I don’t recollect much but then try out and lemme know.

Well you got the gravies, what would you have them with , One would get the regular variety of breads like the Naan , Rotis, Kulchas , Reshmi Paranthas and so on but the classy item and the very “Copper Chimenisque” is the Roomali Roti . These bread are prepared by the skillful of chefs and are not available in few of the restaurants , the dough is tossed about like a juggler in the air and then caught back, swirled and tossed again , till they meet the right texture . “Roomali” in Hindi is Handkerchiefs and these are twice the size of a normal Handkerchief and very thin and soft, folded to resemble a roll these are best had with any gravies.

The Rice Dishes like the Chicken , Mutton and Vegetable Dum Biryanis are brilliant over here , the Dum style is typical Moghlai wherein the Rice is cooked along with the meat or vegetables in a rich gravy interlayered and cooked in a Copper / Earthern pot which is sealed with Wheat dough. The seal traps the aroma within and the seal is opened right in your table filling you with that sumptuous aroma.

Desserts don’t appear much over the Menu here, one would never reach this section , only the brave would as you would have filled you stomach halfway through the Menu.

Prices are quite high , all above the 100 mark, a meal for four should easily cross Rs 1000 and this is for the poor eaters …

To conclude I must say I am quite tired giving 5 stars to all restaurants I review but then what to do I have gone to the best and am rating them rightly so …
