Its a scam - Don't go for the free gift

Dont waste your time going to these meetings and definitely dont put your money here.


So I received a call from country club(cc) that you had won 4 gifts from cc. It is only for married couples and you need to attend a presentation for about an hour before getting a gift.


There was no "presentation" as such. just a sales guy telling me and my wife about CC and the various packages and offers of cc. and saying that you join now the cc membership cost of 1.5L would be waived off.


1) Firstly the place was so shady that would never go even if we had free membership. we were their till 7.30pm and after dark it becomes really shady. Definitely not meant for families. Also the property seemed old and badly maintained.


2) They said one of the gift was a dinner set. well it was a bunch of bowl which were so cheap that cant use them nor gift them.


3) They said one of the gift was a couple movie tickets. They gave a voucher which said to whatsapp to a number with the movie, date and other details. When I tried I found out that the number was not on whatsapp. I tried calling and it said that the number cannot accept incoming calls due to low balance.


So I called back to the number from which I had received the gift offer. the lady their said she will get back to me in half an hours time. about couple of hours later. I called back and no one picked.


Then I called from another number a lady picked she asked my name and then from a distance I could here someone saying here dont take any calls keep the phone and the phone was cut.


I tried calling their yelahanka number a lan line. again a lady picked I told her I come for this gift thing. As soon as I said this the phone got cut and after that the phone number was unreachable.


4) the other gift was a 6N7D vacation at anyone of their destinations in India or abroad. We genuinely thought we would go for one of these locations see the experience, the quality of service and the property and then decide on the membership and the vacation packages.


But after such experience we wont risk it going and staying at their property and spoiling our holiday even if its free.(btw it not free you have pay some taxes). Chances our when we go their we would find out this doesn’t work either.


5) While in the sales pitch they were promising many things. But I said if you want me to pay now you need to show me in written document the details that you are mentioning. which they were unable to. For instance they said you have free membership to gym which included snap, gold, talwakars. whereas in the fine print it reads only the first year is free second year onwards you have to pay the facilities charges. He said we give you a mail from company with these details. I asked him to show me such a mail sent. he showed and no where it was written bout what they were promising.


some of the other things I found out on reading onlne(which needs to be verified)


a) golds gym is no longer in partnership with them.


b) he said free site seeing when we go for vacation - well it seems ts only for 20km.


c) incase you organise a function at their location the food has to be ordered from the resort.


There was a general travel book which this guy showed us saying this is our property. Their were other properties too over their like one in china. So I said is it yours too and if so why didnt you tell us that you have it in china. He said yes we have our own and affiliates properties and there are so many that we cant tell in this short time. On further looking at the book I figured that it was general tourism magazine and this guy just made lied to us blatantly.


Also he said in our gift vacation you can go for international vacations to bali, singapore, Malaysia, thailand, SL. Ont their website when we checked later you can choose location only from dubai, SL and thailand. Here also a lie.
