Hai all..
Thought of writing something but don’t know what to write..coz im good at nothing..then finally thought let me see if I can write something on present indian cricket (afterall I’m watching cricket since 1992 Australia series to be precise-Ganguly’s debut series.
Cricket at present:
Cricket at present has gone thru those olden days..And it is at its best I wud say....the competition level is terrific and the standards set these days by the players are so high....apart from australians and the minnows like bangladesh, zimbabwe...cricket is highly unpredictable especially in the onedayers.... anybody can beat their opponent in any given day(ofcourse if there is no fixing going on)..thats wat the level people too expect when they put so much money in watching matches.....what do u think as the reason for the sudden transformation in cricket....
If u ask me I would say one very crucial match as the opener or starter watever, for all these transformations..which fortunately was played by the indians...yes it is the 3 rd final of the bangladesh indepedence cup between india and pakistan....
Why is it so special:
I say that match as a special one because...till then a score of 300 was a nightmare..be it gilli ..be it sewag..yaaa our beloved master....there was always a psychological barrier inside the mind of the players.....afterall cricket is more of psychological game....maybe thatswhy the aussies are successful with their sledging tactics....that particular match gave a confidence to whole of the cricket world...even to the losers pakistan.....
Saying something and seeing something happen has a hell lot of difference.....and immediately you could have seen so many 300 scores were being chased....I dont know why it happens ..but it happens..you can notice....if there is a big hindrance for something to happen and when that thing happens then automatically the other things follow it without any probs watsoever...not only in cricket it happens, it happens in each and every walk of life atleast to me it had happened a lot of times....
wat do we call it ..shall we call it as bottleneck ...though its not the apt term here....when I thought of someword it struck me first so I’m using it..... so that very match shattered all those unwritten rules ..and 300 remains no more as a winning score unless and until u bowl well......
Coming to indians:
Now let us see do the indians really have it in them..india cricket has produced legends in cricketing world...do u think that the indians can really make it one day like the aussies .....my opinion is definitely yes they have it in them....they have the best batting lineup...infact good bowlers but not the best excepting pathan(may be he is in his lean patch nowadays but talent wise he is really good)...
But one can see the potential of the indians from the level competition in the team....the heartening factor in the competition is even players who have performed well had to wait coz a better player is ahead ....dropping of laxman from the oneday team was a good sign (though not for laxman and his well wishers)but in a team’s point of view its really good news.
Laxman didn’t perform well he was dropped wats new in it? u can ask me??but as far as the indian selectors r concerned they give lot of importance to the past records than wat is really needed?and actually they are a bit hesistant in taking brave decisions?for example ganguly can be dropped ?..without any serious thinking u can very well drop him seeing his recent performances..but they wont do it..but imagine ganguly’s condition.if he had been in the aussie’s team.by this time he wud have become a big business man ?.
This point in aussie team is very catchy and proving to be really great ..and it has to be followed by each and every team.. they have axed stephen waugh the gladiator in cricketing history for not reaching the finals of the vb series?can u see it in the indian cricket?the day when indians acquires the guts to send a famous player back to home on performance grounds, that day indians r sure to make it ?the same is the case with Sachin now..though he is not in that much serious stage and only showing signs...
What makes Aussies special:
Why aussies are so special?.because they have got what we call a professional approach?they belive in themselves and they will continue to believe..thats the key?
Their funda is very simple if they allow the opponent to score say 320 they belive that they can score 321..similarly when they get out for 150 they know they can wrap up the opponents within 149..that should be the confidence level..this thing is lacking in all the other international teams?but they have done a lot of hard work to reach this stage?again our bottleneck funda..u might remember the aussies crossing the bottleneck in 1999 against SA in the last supersix match..from there onwards no looking back??
Aussie selectors really did a great job by taking the brave decision of axing S.Waugh..he was then the world cup winning captain..not only by his captaincy but also by his tremendous batting efforts he took the team from nowhere to the cup..but still they axed them..why , they forsee things very well ?they wanted to groom a captain for the future..and ponting was the right person..and they brought him in the right time?.ponting is now rewriitng all the records(but he is unlucky for not being the victorious aussie test captain on indian soil)
What india team must do to become like aussies:
So coming to the final concluding part?let see whether indians can do that..can they achieve such great heights?once again I say definitely yes?aussies success factor is with the indians also..even indians believe in them?but the consisitency of belief is not as good as the aussies..that?s were the difference comes?
Splendid example would be the world cup campaign of the indians in the year 2003?once they started winning they went nonstop?almost they beat everybody ..what a winning streak it was for the indians..how do they come ..all because of the self belief..they started doing the same thing wat the aussies were doing?.one more fact is that ..the indians r the only team to trouble aussies in their homeland(infact we made them play to save their match and series...)...
Now what we have to do all is to get ready to take some bold decisions and groom the really talented youngsters.... this is what I wanted to say....now looking for ur comments.
